| A FEW THOUGHTS ON CHURCHIANITY
AND APOSTASY IN OUR WORLD |
| 2Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. Below are just a few observations going on in the world of "churchianity." • Some have zeal but not according to knowledge • Some are being lulled to sleep in apathy • Some have given themselves over to covetousness • Some have become lascivious • Some have abandoned pure doctrine • Some never knew pure doctrine • Some have abandoned feeding the sheep to entertaining the goats • Some have abandoned the Fundamentals for neo-pagan philosophy • Some follow after Balaam • Some follow after Core • Some follow after the Way of Cain • Some have abandoned preaching Biblical truths to appeal to the senses of man. Yet spiritual things cannot be received with the natural mind. • Some have abandoned the preaching of hell, citing it as too "offensive." Yet Christ taught more of hell that anyone else in the Bible combined. • Some favor the medium more important than the message, by using entertainment to appeal to the carnal man-- cheapening the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ! Blind guides leading the blind into a ditch. They follow the latest “fad” of the professing church. They crave entertainment and love the praises of men. They want to see with their natural eyes what can only be understood in the spiritual. The modern church has adopted a “market-driven” philosophy. They have cheapened the Gospel in favor of “Christian” entertainment! So MANY Christians are lukewarm. They turn the "TV god" on and watch the "devil's dose" for the day-- polluting their minds and overtime have been influenced by the ways of the world. Sodom and Gomorrah in their living room-- and just as Lot, are so vexed by the evil they no longer see things from a godly, Biblical perspective. They have been lulled to sleep in the devil's quarters. They are ineffective-- nonproductive in the spiritual realm. Oh, the modern church is busy doing "good deeds" but they are carnal-- neither hot, nor cold. They are lukewarm people who "do things for Jesus" but their heart is far away. It is ritual, rather than relationship. The computer-- "the other god" of this new age. The internet is like the "Wild West," where anything goes and sin is at one's doorstep, if not on guard. The world wide web is a tool used for evil and for good-- information is available at one's fingertips but what kind of information? We must all be careful what we allow our eyes to see and our ears to hear. Ultimately, what occupies your time? What are your beliefs? What should a Christian be doing? What church should a Christian attend? Every day the ways of the world seek to tear apart the values you hold precious. What does the Bible say to do? We are to have the Lord Jesus Christ ever before our hearts. We are to be looking unto Him—for it is in Him that we find rest for our souls. We are to pray without ceasing. We are to fellowship with Believers who are born-again, love the Lord Jesus Christ and who will take a stand against sin and adhere to sound doctrine. Our words should have real meaning. Our life should exemplify the evidence of the Faith we profess. We are to put on the whole armor of God. We are to earnestly contend for the Faith. We are to have faith in God! We are to fulfill the Great Commission by preaching the message of Jesus-- not a "filtered, non-offensive" pep talk. The Cross of Jesus Christ needs no improvement. We are to hold fast to our profession of Faith, get into the Word of God daily, which is spiritual food for our soul and we are to stay on the old-fashioned path-- which is one of humility. Let's get back to the foundations of our Faith. The Lord doesn't need marketing directors or a "PR" man. He is just looking for a few good men-- humble in heart and moral in character-- to preach the uncompromising Gospel. Titus 1:7-9 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. People have asked the question, "Should a preacher, formerly involved in a scandal be allowed to preach?" What does the Bible say? The man of God must have a good and honest and credible reputation. May God give us men who will stand up and lead the sheep into a greater, deeper love for the Lord Jesus Christ and a love in reaching the lost with the glorious Gospel. The sheep need to be fed, not entertained. The Word must be preached, so that the Holy Spirit may do His work. Salvation is God's work-- not ours. Christians must proclaim, and God will do the rest. We must be sober, vigilant and ready for the Lord’s return! He is coming back? Do you believe it? If we truly believe the Lord Jesus is coming back soon, how shall we then live? A popular expositor once wrote: “According to that which we believe and look for, so shall we be.” 2Timothy 3:12-17 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. ©2008 Cobblestone Road Ministries All Rights Reserved ---------------------------------------------------- Further Reading: Beware of the Passion Play - At The "Holy Land Experience" Christian Theme Park Cease Not To Teach and Preach Jesus Christ More Apostasy In The Modern Church - Marching Toward Babylon Debating With Atheists?...
