What Did Jesus Look Like?
Question: I heard a TV preacher say that Jesus did not look like a Jewish
man. He said that Jesus probably had blonde hair and blue eyes.
Is this true?

Answer: No, there is no Biblical truth to such a statement. So much of
Christ's earthly life is recorded but
nothing is mentioned of His physical
appearance, while He walked upon the earth.. And God excluded it for a
reason!

Sadly man, even without a Biblical record, has erected icons, statues,
painted pictures, etc. of "Jesus," which violate the Second Commandment.
Yet
God wants His people to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth--
not pray to some picture or meditate upon an image that was painted or
sculpted by mere man.

According to the Bible, Messiah Jesus was and
still is Jewish. The
Samaritan woman at the well KNEW that Jesus was a Jew.  The Pharisees
knew He was a Jew. No one in all of the Bible questioned the ethnicity of
the Lord Jesus. And if Jesus looked so unique as to have blonde hair and
blue eyes, then it would not have been necessary for Judas to actually point
Him out to those who were seeking to destroy Him (Matthew 26:47-49).

The statement by the preacher concerning Jesus being blonde with blue
eyes is without merit. The Bible
does not tell us what Jesus looked like
when He walked this earth. His glorified description (of how He looks now
in Heaven) is found in the Book of Revelation. Messiah has white hair,
skin as brass, and eyes as flames of fire. That is the
Biblical description.

Revelation 1:14-16:
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white
as snow; and his
eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine
brass,
as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many
waters.
And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth
went a sharp two-edged sword and his countenance was as the sun shineth
in his strength.

Christians should stick to the Bible and not make statements that cannot be
verified with Scripture. Also to paint the Lord Jesus or sculpt images of
"Him"
breaks the Second Commandment:

Exodus 20:4  Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any
likeness
of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth
beneath, or that is in the water under the earth...

John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers
shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to
worship him.

May we all walk in the Truth and stick to the precepts found in the Word
of God.
