"Psalm Fifty-Seven"
Divine Protection, Grace and Truth.

1  MY God, in whom are all the springs
Of boundless love, and grace unknown;
Hide me beneath Thy spreading wings,
Till the dark cloud be overblown.

2 Up to the heav'ns, I raise my cry;
The Lord will my desires perform:
He sends his angel from the sky,
And saves me from the threat'ning storm.

3 Be thou exalted, O my God!
Above the heav'ns where angels dwell;
Thy pow'r on earth be known abroad,
And land to land
Thy wonders tell.

4 My heart is fixed, my song shall raise
Immortal honours to Thy Name;
Awake, my tongue, to sound His praise,
My tongue, the glory of my frame.

5 High o'er the earth His mercy reigns,
And reaches to the utmost sky;
His truth to endless years remains,
When lower worlds dissolve and die.

6  Be thou exalted, O my God!
Above the heav'ns where angels dwell;
Thy pow'r on earth be known abroad,
And land to land Thy wonders tell.

Additional Note from Cobblestone Road Ministries:

The above poem was featured in a very old book of devotionals,
written in the 1800s.  Let us now read Psalms 57 from the KJV:

Verse 1
<To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave.>

Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul
trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my
refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

Verse 2:
I will cry unto God most high; unto God that
performeth all things for me.

Verse 3:
He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach
of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth
his mercy and his truth.

Verse 4:
My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are
set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears
and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

Verse 5:
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let thy glory be above all the earth.

Verse 6:
They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down:
they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof
they are fallen themselves. Selah.

Verse 7:
My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed:
I will sing and give praise.

Verse 8:
Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp:
I myself will awake early.

Verse 9:
I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people:
I will sing unto thee among the nations.

Verse 10:
For thy mercy is great unto the heavens,
and thy truth unto the clouds.

Verse 11:
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens:
let thy glory be above all the earth.
