The following question was submitted to us this week:
Question: Thank you so very much for your stand and defense of the
Gospel...I personally feel the need to see the movie as well as discern it as I am
watching it; so if by any means bring full clarity from the scriptures to those
who may have concerns or questions... Do you think as leaders we should
investigate more fully this ["Passion of the Christ"] movie so we can skillfully
address any conversations in the market places and witness the truth to those
we encounter?
Answer: Thank you for your encouraging email. We will pray for you and
your ministry. To answer your question, the verse that comes to mind is
2Cor 2:11 "Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant
of his devices. "
1Peter 5:3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the
flock.
If pastors go and see the film, their congregations will want to see it too and
what a statement it would be to say to the congregation; "I will not see this
film because of the unscriptural content and because of the spirit behind
the film." That makes a statement. "Oh pastor is not going, he must know
something we don't know." Sheep follow the shepherd's leading.
We don't have to witness an abortion to know that it is of the devil.
We don't have to witness a rape to know it is of the devil. We know the source.
The same applies to this film. One just needs to investigate and read the articles
and interviews of the actors, directors and producers to know where they are
coming from and their inspiration for making the film. Our minds need not be
jaded or clouded by viewing this film. We have the mind of Christ and we
think on lovely things and we do not want to crucify our Lord afresh by
viewing such violence. We have a "one up" on the devil if we stick to the Bible
and not pollute our minds with catholic imagery and perversions of the true
Gospel.
We wrote our article on the "passion" before ever encountering the other
websites which also wrote their own articles. We thought we were all alone on
this one. Then we discovered other sites which also came up with the exact
same findings. All of us had the same sources...the interviews, reviews, news
clips, video clips and the Word of God to weigh it all out and we all came up
with the same conclusion and even the same Scriptures in our articles. Pastors
have written Cobblestone Road in the past three days concurring with our
findings. Some are very prominent Baptist ministers and scholars.
Just by investigating the quotes of the director, actors and production crew, we
know the source of this film.
When occasion will arise to discuss the crucifixion with
people who have seen the film, my view will be completely
biblical; because it has not been jaded by the film, which is
man's feable attempt to recreate something from his vain
imagination. God's word is the only thing we need to
reprove, rebuke, etc.
So to view this film is pointless in witnessing and even in rebuking because we
know the source and the makers of the film have a different jesus and a
different gospel than the one found in the Holy Bible. This is obvious just by
reading their interviews.
We have just recently updated our site today with yet more examples of what
the film's goal is and why christians should avoid supporting this film.

It is our prayer that you will investigate the source behind this film for yourself.

Should We Investigate The Passion?
We are listed in the following directories. We do not necessarily endorse all the sites listed in the topsites below. Just because one labels a site, "christian" does not make it biblical. So please use discernment when visiting any link:
