| Just because a beauty product is labeled "natural" does not mean that it is 100% natural. In fact, if only 10% of the ingredients are natural, the manufacturer can market it as being "natural." Make sure that you read the labels carefully! |

| ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Remember!! Your skin is like a sponge. What you put on the outside, gets on the inside. It gets inside your body. |
Chemist Dr Stephen Antczak wrote a book entitled "Cosmetics Unmasked" In his book, the doctor claims that 20 percent of the chemicals used by the cosmetics industry are known to be harmful. The doctor also claims that one in four chemicals listed on beauty product labels is also detrimental to our health. Chemists say that products such as eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara are absorbed into the bloodstream via the soft membranes in the eyeballs. Potentially harmful chemicals from perfumes, body sprays and hairsprays are inhaled. And close to 95 percent of the mix of most fragrances are made from synthetic chemicals. Our skin is regularly exposed to around 75,000 different chemicals according to a recent website. |
From a study (The Pretty Nasty Study, Nov 14, 2002) by the Women's Environmental Network (WEN) in conjunction with the Swedish Study for Nature Conservation: "four out of five popular beauty products, including perfumes, deodorants, hair mousses, gels and sprays contain chemicals called phthalates. These have been found to harm the liver, lungs and the reproductive system, especially developing sex organs in males.' 'Helen Lynn, Health Co-ordinator at WEN, says chemicals that affect animal and human health in this way should not be in cosmetics at all. Many people are exposed to multiple doses every day from the range of cosmetics the use, while workers in the cosmetics and beauty industry face greater exposure. Yet, because the manufacturers don't have to list phthalates on the product label, it is impossible to avoid them. As a result of this study, WEN is now campaigning for manufacturers to remove phthalates from all their products and for the European Union to ban all phthalates from cosmetics." |
Chemicals used in fragrances today are synthetic compounds derived from petroleum, including known toxins capable of causing cancer, birth defects, central nervous system disorders and allergic reactions. — "Smelling Good But Feeling Bad: Synthetic Perfumes, Colognes and Scents Are Turning Up Noses", by Damon Franz and Holly Prall, Emagazine, Volume XI, Number I, January-February 2000. |
The Louisiana State Medical Center found that one out of every five of these asthmatics experiences an attack as a result of exposure to perfume. — "Smelling Good But Feeling Bad: Synthetic Perfumes, Colognes and Scents Are Turning Up Noses" by Damon Franz and Holly Prall, Emagazine, Volume XI, Number I, January-February 2000. |
The study, published in the March-April 1998 issue of Archives of Environmental Health , showed that the emissions of the fragrances produced various combinations of sensory irritation, pulmonary irritation, decreases in expiratory airflow velocity, and alterations of the functional observational battery indicative of neurotoxicity. Neurotoxicity was more severe after mice were repeatedly exposed to the products. — Environmental Health Perspectives. |

| Because the FDA does not consider soap to be a cosmetic, it is not affected by the cosmetic labeling laws requiring ingredients to be listed. Although a few companies voluntarily disclose ingredients, most do not. |
| BEWARE OF MOST COMMERCIAL BABY SHAMPOOS...chemicals, chemicals and more chemicals!!! |
| When the Lord created this earth, He made the most beautiful flowers for us to enjoy. These flowers not only look beautiful but also serve a purpose. They can be crushed and made into oils for perfume. They can be dried and made into tea. Many flowers have medicinal purposes. In my opinion, it truly makes no sense for a woman to wear a man-made/ synthetic perfume, which causes allergies and female health problems when she can wear the scent of fresh flowers, which God created. I personally love and use organic essential oils. You can combine different oils to create your own unique fragrance. People will be asking you, "What do you have on? I love it!" There are many websites online which teach you how to combine the essential oils. Sandlewood, ylang ylang, linden, and rose are my personal favorites and are absolutely fabulous! Accept no substitutes... God's creation is still the best!!! |
