All sin is sin in the eyes of God. If you lie, you have sinned. If you cheat, you have sinned. God does not grade sin on a curve. There is no such thing as a "little sin" or a "big sin".
Revelation 21:8: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
The Bible says that even liars will have their part in the Lake of Fire right along with the murderers. One might say that, "everyone has lied." This may be true but it does not negate the fact that lying is still a sin and one who lies, or has lied in the past, cannot be allowed in God's presence. Just one sin will keep a person out of heaven and that is because God cannot allow even one sin into his presence. One might say, "this is not fair." It is very fair because although we have all sinned, Jesus made it possible for us to spend eternity in heaven in the very presence of God. This is why one must receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.
The greatest sin has to be the rejection of God's Love-- rejection of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice upon the Cross for our sins. There is no other way to heaven except through the Lord Jesus Christ. We all have sinned but He, being sinless, paid the price for our sins. He died in our place.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus paid the price for our sin by taking the sins of the world upon Himself. It was prophecied that Messiah would die for our sins in the Book of Isaiah:
Isaiah 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
God the Father sent His Son, Jesus, to be the Savior of the world. The Lord loves us. Jesus died in our place so that we would not have to die. All who receive Him have their sins forgiven and erased. Jesus rose from the dead so that all who receive Him may have His righteousness and stand justified in the eyes of God.
The Bible says in Romans 4:25 that Jesus "was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification."
The Apostle Paul writes in Philippians 3:9, "And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"
Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
THE GREATEST SIN:
I say this only to say that I believe the greatest sin that will forever plague the minds of the those in hell is the rejection of God's LOVE and the FREE GIFT of salvation that comes by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ and receiving Him as Savior. Jesus paid a high price for our salvation. Salvation is offered freely to all and the rejection of the Lord Jesus Christ will be the sin that will gnaw at the conscience of those in the Lake of Fire for all eternity.
God is love and He loves us and He provided us a way to spend eternity with Him. If one rejects God's love, I believe this will be the sin that will forever plague his mind in the Lake of Fire.
Jesus said that God loves us but He also stated that if one rejects God's Love, rejects the free gift of salvation, rejects God's Only Son, they will be condemned:
John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Jesus called unbelief in Him: a sin!
John 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
1John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
1John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 1John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation [substitute--Jesus took our place] for our sins.
Ephesians 2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
The Bible says that we cannot be saved by our own good works. It is only by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. My dear friends, do not reject God's precious gift of salvation. Receive Jesus into your heart today. We all have sinned and deserve the penalty of our sin but because of Jesus' death and resurrection, one can be forgiven today. The Bible says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved." What does it mean to believe?
Believe what the Bible says. Believe that Jesus is God. The Second Person of the Trinity. Believe that He became flesh and was born of a virgin. Believe that He lived a pure and sinless life.
Believe that God the Father loves you and He sent His Only Begotten Son to die for your sins and that you cannot save yourself by your good works. 1John 4:9-10 says, "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins."
Believe that Jesus rose again and that He is seated at the Right Hand of God the Father. Romans 8:34 ... It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Believe the words that Jesus said in the Bible. He said in John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Believe that by receiving Him, you too will have eternal life. John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
All you have to do is BELIEVE that Jesus died for you and acknowledge that your own merits and good works CANNOT save you and pray from your heart and ask Jesus to be your Savior.
