| Ambassadors For Christ |
| Peter 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you…
We, as Christians, are on this earth for a very short season. We are the Lord’s hands and feet here on earth. We are to glorify Him. 2 Corinthians 5:20 tells us that we are ambassadors for Christ. An ambassador is a person who represents a certain party—one who speaks for another. We are to speak and declare God’s message. In Acts 1:8, the Lord Jesus said, “ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. We are the city on top of the hill—we are the light in this present Dark Age. The Lord Jesus is the message we preach. He is our message. We are His ambassadors. We must proclaim His message—this is how we glorify God. Proclaiming the Gospel message—that Christ died for our sins and rose again! Our message is that the wrath of God abides upon sinners but the gift of God is the forgiveness of sins through Christ the Lord. He gives new life to those who will receive Him as their Savior. Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. A true Believer in Christ believes the Lord’s words—all of them. A true Christian will proclaim the Gospel message because he or she BELIEVES the message to be true. Those who are offended or ashamed of the Lord’s words are none of His. The Lord Jesus told us plainly in Luke 9:26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels. Preachers who preach “ear candy”—“feel good” sermons without preaching the truth found in the Holy Scriptures—the cleansing Blood of Christ, the judgment for unbelievers, the preaching against sin and eternal damnation—are ashamed of the Lord’s words. Such “feel good—act good” preachers are cowards in the pulpit who would rather tickle the ears with “gospel lite” religion. Such preachers are not ambassadors for Christ for they do not speak the message the Lord has boldly proclaimed throughout the Gospels and the Epistles. Christ Jesus spoke more about hell in the Gospels alone than can be found anywhere else in the entire Bible. The message of Good News is only good news when one knows the bad news. John 3:17-18 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Our Lord called us the “salt of the earth”. Matthew 5:13: Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. It is through our witness that the Lord’s message of salvation is made known. If the Saints be silent and declare not the glad tidings of Calvary and the Empty Tomb, how shall the world hear? Psalm 19:1 says that “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” The Heavens declare “There is a God” but the Church declares the Gospel message—the ONLY message which can save a lost soul. The firmament shows forth the Lord’s handiwork but the Gospel message declares WHO the Lord is and His great love for us. Romans 1:16 says that the Gospel of Christ is “the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…” We have no greater honor than to be His ambassadors. This is our chief business on this earth—to proclaim His message. We are in this world but our citizenship is in Heaven. An earthly ambassador is not ashamed of his office but rather sees his occupation as one of prestige and speaks on behalf of his sponsor. Shall we not then, being citizens of Heaven, boldly declare the Lord’s message—the proclamation of God’s love, the forgiveness of sins through Christ Jesus, the escape from wrath unto life everlasting to all who receive Him as their Savior? There is no greater honor! We are not perfect but His message is perfect. His ways are always right. We cannot do anything of our own power but as we rest in the Lord, allowing Him to work through us, we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us. May the Lord give us the boldness to proclaim His message to those placed in our path. 1John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? 1John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. Our message is not one of politics... Christians are not called to build a utopia here on earth. We are called to live peaceably with all mankind but we know the Lord Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world”—and so true Christians KNOW that lasting world peace shall not come until the Prince of Peace—Christ Jesus-- returns to set up His kingdom upon this earth. The Lord did not call us to get so wrapped up in political matters within our country. We must pray for our leaders and pray for those around us but Christ Jesus did not call us to become politicians. Christians represent the Lord Jesus Christ—His message is what we proclaim to this world. What shall it profit a man to gain the world but lost his own soul? Shall a “political cause” save him? No, only the Gospel message is “the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” Shall we stay silent? 1John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Christians do not represent Israel... Too much political talk is prevalent among Christians today. They get all wrapped up in Israeli politics and the Knesset. We, as Christians, should ALWAYS support Israel’s right to exist—for the land is theirs by Divine right! We believe the bible and should support Israel in this fashion but their trouble shall only increase as these Last Days approach. At the end of the Tribulation period, Christ shall return to rescue Israel and shall destroy all of her enemies. We, His Saints, shall return with the Lord Jesus on that day and the remnant of Israel shall weep and cry “blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord”—they shall at last acknowledge their Messiah as the once crucified and now risen Lord—the One whom Isaiah prophesied of in Isaiah 53 and the One whom Zechariah said would return. (Zechariah 12:10) (See our article on this subject) Someday, all of Israel shall be saved but for the time being, they, as a whole, are far from God—seeking their help from Gentile nations and by giving their land away in exchange for so-called “peace”. Such is not God’s will for the precious Jewish people. The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 10:1 “Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.” This must be our heart’s desire as well. We must proclaim the Messiah’s message to both Jew and Gentile…while it is yet day. 1Cor 9:14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. 2Tim 3:12-14 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 1Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Christians Represent Christ...May God give us the boldness to proclaim His message of salvation to a lost and dying world. May we show our light and not be a stumbling block to others. May the love of Jesus shine forth in our lives. We are His ambassadors. We are weak but He is strong. We don’t know everything but one thing we do know—the awesome power of God working in us. We believe His Word. Our trust is in Him alone! We are a humble and peculiar people with the powerful message of redemption. The Lord is Great! His message is Truth! The Lord Jesus still saves. Christ Jesus—He is our message. He is our BLESSED HOPE! Let us remember this always. Matt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. If the Gospel is scarcely preached today, where shall it be in twenty years? John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Isaiah 53:9-12 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. Act 17:3 Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. Galatians 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. ©2006 Cobblestone Road Ministries All Rights Reserved FURTHER READING: The First Step To Blessing Four Important Things That Every Christian Should Know We Are His Instruments I AM The Vine God Is Our Shield Running The Christian Race Looking To Jesus Other Related Articles: Why Did Jesus Die For Us?
