To believe on Jesus, means that one receives Him as their own Savior. He died for our sins. Every person has transgressed God's commandments. The Bible tells us that if a person breaks one commandment, he is just as guilty as if he broke all the commandments. (James 2:10) Yet the Lord Jesus died for sinners. He never sinned but willingly died for our sins. He paid the price for our sin upon the cross when He took our own sins upon Himself. He shed His blood so that we might be forgiven. When a person receives Jesus, they believe on Him-- that He paid the penalty for sin at the cross and they trust Him as the Savior of their soul. The Bible specifically says that our own good works could never save us (Ephesians 2:8,9) and that is why the Lord Jesus came to earth to die for us. He paid a debt that He did not owe and we owed a debt we could never pay. Thanks be to God for the free gift of salvation that is offered through Jesus Christ! Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. If you do not know the Lord Jesus today. He loves you. He died for your sins upon the cross and He arose from the dead. The Bible says in Romans 10:9-11: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. The Lord Jesus said in John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
