The Anvil of God’s Word

Last eve I paused beside a blacksmith’s door
And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime;
Then looking in, I saw upon the floor,
Old hammers worn with beating years of time.

“How many anvils have you had,” said I,
“to wear and batter on these hammers so?”
“Just one,” said he, and then with twinkling eyes,
“The anvil wears the hammers out you know.”

“And so,” I thought, “the anvil of God’s Word
For ages skeptics’ blows have beat upon,
Yet though the noise of falling blows was heard
The anvil is unmarred, the hammers gone.”

A Little Note from Cobblestone Road Ministries:

Psalm 119:160
Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one
of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

Psalm 119:89
For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 24:35:
"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."

God's Word will always remain. Skeptics throughout the ages have tried
to destroy the credibility of God's Word-- yet they have long died and
God's Word still remains the best-selling Book of all time!
God's Word is truth and truth remains!
