"The Things Which Are Behind" Leave behind earth's empty pleasure, Fleeting hope and changeful love; Leave its soon-corroding treasure; There are better things above. Leave, oh, leave thy fond aspirings, Bid thy restless heart be still; Cease, oh cease, thy vain desirings, Only seek thy Father's will. Leave behind thy faithless sorrow, And thine every anxious care; He who only knows the morrow Can for thee its burden bear. Leave behind the doubting spirit, And thy crushing load of sin; By thy mighty Saviour's merit, Life eternal thou shalt win. Leave the darkness gathering o'er thee, Leave the shadow-land behind; Realms of glory lie before thee; Enter in, and welcome find. ~ By Frances Ridley Havergal~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Little Note from Cobblestone Road Ministries: Phil 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. Sometimes, it is difficult to forget the past and to leave behind present problems but as Christians, we are to leave behind earth's empty pleasures, fond aspirations and all things that are contrary to the will of God. We must pray to the Father, as our Lord Jesus did, "Not my will but Thine be done." We are to press on in the Faith and to follow our Savior in the way which He shall lead us. The past is behind and the future is glorious in Christ Jesus. May we, today, abandon all that displeases Him and leave those things which are behind...ever looking toward Christ, who is our Hope.
