"One Thing I Have Desired" Of my Lord, one thing I seek, One thing my heart desires-- That I may dwell within His house; To such my soul aspires Within His Temple I'll inquire (Oh, how I long to see!) And know about the things that Christ Hath there prepared for me! And there I may thus, then, behold The beauty of His face, Where loveliness and majesty His Being interlace. ~Poem By Eva Gray ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Little Note from Cobblestone Road Ministries: Psalm 27:4-5 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. One thing King David desired that he would dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of his life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His Temple. King David's desire was in a PERSON-- the Lord God! When he wrote this Psalm, the Temple was not even built yet; it would be built by his son, King Solomon. BUT...David desired to see it-- by faith-- to worship in God's presence. God cannot be seen with human eyes but yet David desired to behold the beauty of the Lord. True worshippers must worship God in spirit and in truth. We behold His beauty with spiritual eyes. Our natural eyes behold the beauty of His creation-- they are His signature, but when we worship, we look beyond the temporal things-- we fellowship with God. And He is our refuge. The Lord Jesus said in John 4:23: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. The glorious crescendo of our worship will come when we all are assembled in Heaven and we sing the Song of Moses-- the Song of the Lamb. "Great and marvelous are Thy works Lord God Almighty..." Revelation 15:3-4 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest. For it is then-- in Heaven--that we shall behold the beauty of the Lord-- in all His splendor with eyes that can see the glory that is His alone!
