How many times the final triumph of our Lord is revealed in the Holy Scriptures! The major note of all prophecy is His conquest, His Glory, and His triumph. The holy men of God received more messages and visions of Christ's coming glorious exaltation than of His humiliation and rejection. One of the prophecies of His victory is found in the last verse of the one hundred and thirty-second Psalm: "His enemies will I clothe with shame: and upon Himself shall His crown flourish."
Ever since our Lord left the earth to take His place at the right hand of God, His enemies have increased. But His place there, according to Scripture, is not His permanent place. He is there until His enemies are made the footstool of His feet (Hebrews 10:13, Psalm 110:1).
Psalm 110:1 <A Psalm of David.> The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Heb 10:12-13 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
This will not be done gradually by the preaching of the Gospel. The world never was so far away from accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord as it is now. There is not a single prophecy which authorizes us to believe that the present age is ending with a converted world. The very opposite is predicted. Instead of a universal acknowledgment of Christ, there will be a universal opposition and antagonism to Him. So it is written in the second Psalm:
Psalm 2:2-3 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his Anointed". Their wild saying is "Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us."
This is the spirit of the age today. Christ opposition and Christ rejection are its marks. Quite true, they talk about Jesus, His teachings, His leadership, and His example, but the Christ of God, the supernatural Christ, the Son of God, who died for our sins and was buried, who arose on the third day, the age does not want. Our colleges, universities and other institutions are reeking with infidelity. Anti-christianity, often disguised under the name of Christianity, is frightfully on the increase. The Son of God is denied, and the denial of the Father follows. Atheisim, the goal of all Christ-rejection, becomes stronger throughout the civilized countries. The climax has not yet been reached. The unseen forces of lawlessness, Satan and the demons under him, are preparing rapidly for the final conflict when Satan's masterpiece, the "man of sin", will be in power, when the world will unite in complete hatred of the Son of God. But when that is reached, the hour of His triumph will be at hand.
God, Himself, spoke to His Son, when He welcomed Him to take His place at His own right hand, saying: "Sit Thou at My right hand until I make Thine enemies Thine footstool." God Himself will deal with Christ's enemies and will clothe them with shame. It will be in that supreme hour of human history when every controversy about the Person of Christ will be forever settled, the hour when He returns to this earth in great power and glory. His enemies will lick the dust. The godless, the atheists, the liberalists and all their associates will be silenced by the glory-flash from above. And that hour, when He answers His enemies by His glorious manifestation, will also bring His crowning day. "Upon Himself shall His crown flourish." He will appear crowned with many diadems.
How patiently He waits up yonder for that coming day! And we, His co-heirs, His brethren, whom He brings with Him, in that day, we too must wait patiently with Him. But His waiting and our waiting will soon end.
What a glorious day it will be when the Lord Jesus shall reign on this earth and in the new earth to come. The Early Christians looked forward to that blessed day. 2Peter 3:13: Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Today, many within "Christian" circles claim a "world-wide revival" is coming to this earth but yet the Bible says that the opposite is true. Before the rapture, there will be a falling away from the Faith. We see this transpiring before our eyes. So-called "Christians" are preaching another "jesus" and "another gospel". The Bible warns us to beware of preachers who twist the Word of God. We are to beware of prosperity preachers-- who twist the Word of God to gain riches for themselves. They are ENEMIES of the Faith. Beware of Word of Faith preachers who claim Jesus had to be born again in hell. This is blasphemy. Beware of preachers who claim to have a super "faith healing" ministry-- there is no such thing in the Scriptures.
We, who know and love the Lord Jesus, must be watchful. We must keep His Word. We are to be looking for His appearing-- for His coming is nearer than ever before. We are to occupy until our Lord Jesus comes and He surely will come at the appointed time. And we shall return with Him at the end of the Tribulation Period. Jesus will rule the earth and lasting peace shall finally be established-- for true peace can only come through Jesus Christ-- the King of Glory!
Jude 1:24-25 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
