Father, I Know That All My Life Father, I know that all my life Is portioned out for me, And the changes that are sure to come I do not fear to see: I ask Thee for a present mind, Intent on pleasing Thee. I would not have the restless will That hurries to and fro Seeking for some great thing to do Or secret thing to know; I would be treated as a child And guided where I go. Wherever in the world I am, In whatsoe'er estate, I have a fellowship of hearts To keep and cultivate. I ask Thee for daily strength To none that ask denied, A mind to blend the outward life, While keeping at Thy side; Content to fill a little space, If Thou be glorified. There are briers besetting every path, That call for patient care; There is a cross in every lot, And an earnest need for prayer; But a lowly heart that leans on Thee Is happy anywhere. In service which thy will appoints There are no bonds for me; For my inmost heart is taught the truth That makes thy children free. A life of self-renouncing love Is one of liberty. ~By Anna L. Waring, 1850~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Little Note from Cobblestone Road Ministries: Psalm 39:4 LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. God knows all of our days. He knows the end from the beginning. There is nothing hidden from Him. And as God's children, we see His hand guiding our lives and is working all things out for our good. We are nothing apart from Him. We know our own frailty and His strength. As the poem says, a lowly heart that leans upon the Lord is happy anywhere. He is the source of our joy; and life has no meaning apart from Him. We need not fear the future for He holds the future in His hands and will lead us safely onward till we reach the other side in glory! Praise the name of Christ Jesus!
