"I Was A Stricken Deer" I was a stricken deer, that left the herd Long since; with many an arrow deep infixt My panting side was charg'd, when I withdrew To seek a tranquil death in distant shades. There was I found by One who had Himself Been hurt by th'archers. In His side He bore, And in His hands and feet, the cruel scars. With gentle force soliciting the darts, He drew them forth, and heal'd and bade me live. ~By W. Cowper~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Short Note from Cobblestone Road Ministries: This is an excerpt from the classic poem by W. Cowper. Everyone, apart from Christ, is as a wounded, stricken deer. The world is cruel and only provides temporary pleasure that soon fades into emptiness and sorrow and woe. Yet for everyone that has received the Lord Jesus as Savior, we are no longer as the deer without hope but as the one who received LIFE. We have abundant life here on earth and eternal life awaits us for we know the Blessed Risen Christ! He is alive and He is Lord! Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 1Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
