"The Master’s Touch"

“And he touched her hand, and the fever left her;
and she arose and ministered unto them.” Matthew 8:15

“He touched her hand, and the fever left her.”
He touched her hand as He only can,
With the wondrous skill of the great Physician,
With the tender touch of the Son of Man,
And the fever pain in the throbbing temples
Died out with the flush on brow and cheek;
And the lips that had been so parched and burning
Trembled with thanks that she could not speak;
And the eyes, where the fever light had faded,
Looked up – by her grateful tears made dim;
And she rose and ministered to her household –
She rose and ministered unto Him.

“He touched her hand, and the fever left her.”
Oh blessed touch of the Man Divine!
So beautiful then to rise and serve Him
When the fever is gone from your life and mine.

It may be the fever of restless serving,
With heart all thirsty for love and praise,
And eyes all aching and strained with yearning
Toward self-set goals in the future days;
Or it may be a fever of spirit anguish,
Some tempest of sorrow that dies not down
Till the cross at last is in meekness lifted
And the head stoops low for the thorny crown;
Or it may be a fever of pain and anger,
When the wounded spirit is hard to bear,
And only the Lord can draw forth the arrows
Left carelessly, cruelly rankling there.

Whatever the fever, His touch can heal it;
Whatever the tempest, His voice can still;
There is only joy as we seek His pleasure;
There is only a rest as we seek His will –
And some day after life’s fitful fever,
I think we shall say in the home on high:
“If the hands that He touched but did His bidding
How little it matters what else went by!”

Ah, Lord Jesus! Thou knowest us altogether,
Each heart’s sore sickness, whatever it be.
Touch Thou our hands! Let the fever leave us –
And so shall we minister unto Thee!

A Little Note from Cobblestone Road Ministries:

When the Lord Jesus ministered on this earth, in Israel, the people
flocked to Him to be healed. And now, our risen Savior, seated
glorified in Heaven still has power to heal. He is still the Great Physician
with healing in His wings. Does God still heal today? The answer is yes,
in accordance with His will. Sometimes, a person may not get well and
may pass away...it was their time to depart from this world but it is
still the Christian's privelege to pray to be healed and leave it up to
the Lord to do what He knows is right. Certainly a Saint in Heaven
feels no pain and is basking in the joy of the Lord's presence.

And for others, the healing is delayed in order to teach us something
that we have not yet learned. Sometimes, it is an instant healing,
other times, it is a gradual healing and yet other times the person
may be promoted to glory-- to be forever with the Lord.

Do the New Testament Epistles talk about healing? Yes.

James 5:14-16
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church;
and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the
Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise
him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another,
that ye may
be healed.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

So many church people neglect this very straight-forward admonition.
They do not believe that God heals. They do not pray over the sick
in their church. YET THE BIBLE should be obeyed...not some of
the verses but ALL of them. We should obey the Word, and let God
take care of the rest. Do you need a touch from the Master?
Then look to Him-- He is only a prayer away!

Phil 2:27
For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him;
and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

3Jn 1:2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper
and be in health,
even as thy soul prospereth.
