Psalms
Chapter 63:1-8
1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul
thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty
land, where no water is;
2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the
sanctuary.
3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall
praise thee.
4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in
thy name.
5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and
my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee
in the night watches.
7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of
thy wings will I rejoice.
8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth
me.
What a beautiful passage of Scripture.
Seeking the Lord early means making time for Him each and
every day when we wake up. Most of us are so busy in this life
that we lack the time in the morning to spend in prayer. We
have to remember that prayer is talking to God and that talking
to the Lord is something we can do while in the shower or
when we are getting dressed. Early could also be applied to
"early in a situation" or "early before trouble or trials come."
Praying to the Lord when times are good will help us when
trials actually come. Sometimes we wait until a situation gets
out of hand before we start praying. We need to pray without
ceasing, as the Bible says to do.
We ought to praise God in the good times and in the bad. He is
merciful to us and His loving kindness is better than life. What
a statement! We need to bless the Lord as we live, each and
every day. To raise our hands and worship Him alone for all
the blessings that He has given to us and all the wonderful
things He is doing in each of our lives. God is our Potter and
we are the clay. Our life is in the Lord's hand and therefore we
should never fear the future. Praise the name of Jesus! Give
God all the praise for the salvation that we have through Jesus.
Who else ever died for us? Who else intercedes for us? Who
else is our Great and High Priest? Our Jesus takes care of us as
a Loving and caring Shepherd.
We should also pray to the Lord when we go to sleep. We are to
meditate on Him and His goodness to us. The new age gurus
meditate but we are also to meditate...not on ourselves but on
the Lord and all that He has done and will do for us. When
things were not going right for David, the Bible said that he
"encouraged himself in the Lord." What does that mean? He
must have started thinking about the great things that the Lord
had done for Him in the past and if the Lord did these things in
the past, certainly He would perform wonderful deeds in the
future. We have to dwell on the goodness of God and trust Him
that He will perform His perfect will for our lives. God works
all things out for our good. The Lord
is our help ... always!
Sometimes, Christians can get so wrapped up in church
functions and fellowship with one another that they spend less
time in prayer and fellowship with the Lord. God should
always come first!
We need to cling to Jesus and seek Him and follow Him always!
His right hand will uphold us and He is always listening to us
and will answer us for He is our God. When all looks hopeless,
there is Jesus. God is always on time, never late. And whatever
you may be going through today, the Lord is the answer. Jesus
promised that He would never leave us, nor forsake us.
Don't forget to fellowship with Him. Our Heavenly Father loves
us. Jesus, our Savior, loves us and intercedes for us. And the
Holy Ghost loves us and is ever present with us, indwelling us
and is
our Comforter.
